We were enjoying this fabulous murtabak in Bandar Uda, when a kid approached us, derma he said.
Funny though, the so called madrasah which needed some donation is in Kuala Kedah, jauh nya travel.
Ya, we know it's just a crazy child labour scheme and this ought to stop. I gave him RM10 just to please him. His face was expressionless.
BUt i tell you la, this murtabak, can beat Zamzam's in Singapore la..Above par.
While in Malacca, i went on a road trip deep into the sub urban, from Bandar Hilir up to Sungai Udang, hungrily searching for a simple buruk stall to unleash the eating machine in me.
I want original masak lemak cili padi, asam pedas, and cencaluk, tempoyak, cook with keikhlasan di jiwa.
We arrived in a simple, shop lot beside the road in Sungai Udang. Three
stalls, each incomplete. So what i did was, i ordered from all the 3
stalls, cencaluk from stall number 1, masak asam stall number 2, masak
lemak cili padi stall 3, back to stall 1, for sambal and to stall 3 for
tempoyak (durian paste).Sounds so buruk lantak one, but i don't care la wei..I'm just a happy traveller.
I just adore, home cooked meals in the rual or sub urbans, each time i join a road trip. The shaggier the stall, the better..
I hereby declare that was the best, original, cooked from the
heart-masak lemak cili padi (with pucuk ubi inside), and the super
finger licking tempoyak, and i slurped down the asam pedas. Ya, sounds
buruk lantak man..but seriously, i adore home cooked meals on road
trips, and the simple stalls in Sungai Udang did it with flying colours.
Forget Jalan-jalan Cari Makan maa..so fake one. This is classier, no lip gloss is needed.
Better Rais's Tapai in Off the Edge, he's the guru man..

- Hey Sister go, Sister!
Ha haaa...Inilah my final adventure for Sem 2, Academic Session 08/09 !
Journey to Tanjung Leman is similar to the one suicidal persons often imagine themselves in. The only soul who seemed to enjoy the monotonous journey was Jack, while the rest of us snored away like ugly Sleeping Beauties and Snow Whites.
I had long ago surrendered referring to the map Jack got us. Why bother when all i could see is oil palm estates, they broke my heart by the way.
It took me by surprise, this Cabaran Memancing Tanjung Leman. Did fishes swim
that close to the shore? Yeah, i was that naive, plus the fact that Jack got me a silly fishing rod suit for catching shrimps, that would snap into half the moment we put on the weight stone.
But when the eager contestants cast their baits into the sea, i understood.
The passion were lit, the challenge began.
And i went hiding under the shade of the tent, eating ice cream and stuffing myself with crackers. Ha ha ha..
- What The Crew Had for BreakfaSt in MerSing
We had breakfast like superstars that morning, in a shack which must have belonged to a village fisherman. It was a humid morning indeed in the shores of Pekan Mersing. But a good breakfast is vital. The breakfast shack offered, surprise, surprise, nasi dagang! I took mine with extra chilli fried beef, telur masin (salted duck egg) and of course, the thick gravy of ikan tongkol.
No karaoke, no piano, just the sounds of tired waves beating the beaten river banks, where tired boats stopped chugging to catch some breath. On each table, kueh mueh for desserts were of bright colours, kueh ketayap. pulut kelapa, kueh apam..
